Learning Times Tables

This is the first of three talks designed to support people who want to help their children learn and understand times tables. In this session I will explain why many children struggle to learn these important facts and how we can help them to overcome their difficulties. I will suggest ways of making practice fun,  manageable and effective. I will show you a range of games and activities that will enable you to assess a child's knowledge, deepen their understanding and improve their recall of facts. Some of these resources will be electronic, such as the sites that replicate the Year 4 Multiplication Check. Many more will use simple resources such as dice, playing cards, paper and pencil.
